The Latino Policy Forum invites you to "Nuestro Hogar: Addressing the Foreclosure Crisis in the Latino Community"
"45.7% of Latinos in Chicago were given higher cost loans by lenders," according to a Woodstock Institute Study.
While the foreclosure crisis has affected the nation and the Chicago region as a whole, communities of color have been disproportionately impacted, because lenders targeted them with riskier, higher-rate mortgages.
Format
Panel 1: An overview and contextual background of the housing foreclosure crisis
Panel 2: Will examine what has been done and needs to be done to address the crisis situation: Examine the recent legislation passed at the local and federal levels and try to understand the implications of those policies for our community.
Break-out Sessions: We will have break-out sessions to further explore what the community is doing to address issues of foreclosures and brainstorm on what needs to be done to alleviate this crisis.
